Two Celebrations. One Historic Day. 

Downtown Manteo | 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The day begins in the heart of historic Manteo with a lively, open-air celebration that is free and open to the public from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.—no tickets required. This portion of the event invites attendees to stroll along the historic streets of downtown Manteo, and to explore and engage with the rich heritage that defines Dare County and the broader American experience.

FREE Advance Tickets Required (Quantities are limited due to the site capacity)

Dare A250 celebrations will transition to a powerful grand finale at Roanoke Island Festival Park beginning at 3:30 p.m. With the Elizabeth II and the historic waterfront as its stage, the Star-Spangled Spectacular from 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. will serve as a tribute to the people, progress and principles that have shaped the nation and our county. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs, or rent chairs for $5 cash on site at Roanoke Island Festival Park.

A community choir performance paired with a multimedia patriotic production celebrating America’s enduring spirit

Interactive Art Experience
(Dare Arts Courtyard in Downtown Manteo)

11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Young artists may add their own brushstrokes to a large patriotic painting, which will later be enhanced by acclaimed local painter Brad Price before being permanently displayed at the Outer Banks Community Foundation. 

 

Families can also enjoy coloring Flat John White—the first governor of an English colony in America—along with festive tablecloths. Placemats that can be colored will be available at participating businesses throughout Manteo as well.
